We start out with a look into Kuu’s past where she is in the testing facility looking at Kazuya. As Kyoshiro and Kuu are falling, they are caught and protected by Bastille. Kazuya, in all his craziness somehow is incapacitated by Bastille, as it itself starts to crumble, signifying the end of the world. Kuu tells Kyoshiro that she can stop the destruction of the world. Kyoshiro decides to go help her save the world. A staff appears in Kuu’s hand and a pair of angel wings sprout forth behind Kuu and the two fly off into the air.

I’m not quite sure what they did to Kazuya, but he got knocked out good. Also, it made sense that Kuu would command the same staff that the other Kuu was using since they’re halves of each other.

Kyoshiro Img 12-05 Kyoshiro Img 12-06 Kyoshiro Img 12-07 Kyoshiro Img 12-08

Kuu uses the wand and gets rid of the red atmosphere and the other Angels are released, destroying Bastille. The other angels fly around in the air as well searching for their companions. Tarurotte with Sojiro, Kaon with Himiko, and well, Setsuna just lands down since she doesn’t have Kyoshiro anymore. Tarurotte and Kaon bring life back to Sojiro and Himiko. Kyoshiro and Kuu fly around the air performing a dance alluding to the dance mentioned in the first episode. And the two then share a kiss. Kazuya, by then, is practically a shell, but he still has the spiritual Kuu to look over him.

So far, this episode is becoming the typical dénouement type of finale. The world is in peril and so the least likely of heroes comes forth to make things better. And after that, everyone and everything is restored to a happy-go-lucky world.

Kyoshiro Img 12-09 Kyoshiro Img 12-10 Kyoshiro Img 12-11 Kyoshiro Img 12-12

After Kyoshiro and Kuu land, Kuu knows it’s time for her to go, as this is the price for saving the world. Kuu requests that Kyoshiro to turn around and not look at her. Kuu tells him that she’ll surely return to the world and makes him pinky swear to wait for her to return. They share their final moments, but Kuu can’t bear it as she sees herself fading away. She cries out to Kyoshiro to save her, but it’s too late by then as she disappears, leaving a devastated Kyoshiro with only the white horse pendant left.

I couldn’t help but find it hilarious in the scene where Kyoshiro turns around in hopes of saving Kuu. It must have been the subs, but Kyoshiro at first sounded like he was going to accept defeat and the moment Kuu cries for help, he takes it all back and is willing to save her. Anyway, it was funny to me.

Kyoshiro Img 12-13 Kyoshiro Img 12-14 Kyoshiro Img 12-15 Kyoshiro Img 12-16

Days later, Kyoshiro is ready to set out to search for Kuu. Setsuna cuts off her hair and decides to accompany Kyoshiro on his mission. Everyone else live on peacefully with their lives. Years later, Setsuna and Kyoshiro finally find a younger version of Kuu in a flower field and it’s deja vu all over again for Kuu. The end.

The ending of the series is practically a carbon copy of Kannazuki no Miko. Well, the story did come from the same author, so it’s expected. Although I was never convinced by the development of the characters, if there were any to begin with, I found it nice that everything ended well. No real loose ends.

Kuu continues to look at the white horse pendant as she sets herself into the pod with the other Angels. Kazuya immediately goes on the attack against Kyoshiro and starts talking about how he enjoyed the attention Kyoshiro gave to him when he was young. Kyoshiro continues to head on to where Kuu is while Sojiro and Himiko try to keep Kazuya at bay, while Kazuya taunts them to bring it. Despite their efforts, they are too late from preventing the Angels from transforming Kuu back to her original form.

For some reason, it feels like they nerfed Kazuya quite a bit in this scene. It could also be that Kazuya knows they can’t do anything to him and he’s just waiting for Kuu to turn into Cielo. Finally, it could also be that the instrument can keep him at bay indefinitely.

Kyoshiro Img 11-05 Kyoshiro Img 11-06 Kyoshiro Img 11-07 Kyoshiro Img 11-08

With all four Absolute Angels combined, they form a large mech known as Bastille. Sojiro explains that is the destructive form of Absolute Angels. It’s purpose is to bring end to the world. Bastille then emits a red blanket over the world freezing it in place. In another dimension, the four Absolute Angels sit on separate pillars in chains. Kazuya’s spiritual Kuu talks to each one telling them that she understands their feelings. So one by one, each of them are chained up to a pillar.

I couldn’t quite understand what was going on in that world where all the Angels were. I did understand that they had to come to terms with themselves and accept defeat, but it sure didn’t look like they accepted defeat at all. Well, maybe Setsuna, but not Kaon or catgirl.

Kyoshiro Img 11-09 Kyoshiro Img 11-10 Kyoshiro Img 11-11 Kyoshiro Img 11-12

Afterward, Bastille starts breaking apart. Kazuya ties down Bastille trying to retrieve his Cielo while the sky rains down feathers. Kyoshiro heads toward Kuu as well, while the others hold back the dummy Angels. As Kyoshiro advances up towards Kuu, Sojiro, Jin, and Himiko are already defeated. Kyoshiro comes to terms with his life’s misguided mission and decides that Kuu is worth changing all his beliefs for. As Bastille continues to fall apart, Kazuya continues on the attack, but doesn’t stand a chance against Bastille.

You would think that Kazuya knew what he was doing all this time, but instead he’s left trying to tame the giant mech to get his Cielo back. Kind of weird. Then he gets mashed by Bastille’s foot. And just like most shows nearing the finale, all the side characters come in for a final sacrifice to allow the lead character to do what he must do.

Kyoshiro Img 11-13 Kyoshiro Img 11-14 Kyoshiro Img 11-15 Kyoshiro Img 11-16

Back in the other dimension, Kuu is still not wrapped in chains. She reveals that she still has the white horse and remembers Kyoshiro and therefore she cannot accept the merger with her spirit. Kuu says she wishes to see Kyoshiro one last time, causing that dimension to shatter. Kuu falls out of Bastille’s chamber and Kyoshiro jumps in and catches her as she falls.

I guess this is the one moment where Kuu’s strange personality is able to stop what’s happening. She refuses to accept assimilation with her spirit because her feelings for Kyoshiro somehow produced a spirit of her own. Now that Kuu has returned to her normal self, it looks like the next episode is all about cleaning up the messes.

Of course, Kazuya’s next target would be Sojiro and catgirl. He easily defeats the two. Back at the chapel garden, Kuu makes a letter, but doesn’t understand why. Kazuya shows up and she discards the letter away as they walk away together. Back at Kyoshiro’s place, Sojiro tells him that he’s going to fight Kazuya and bring back Tarurotte. Kyoshiro is still not ready to commit to fight Kazuya. Inside the chapel, Kazuya explains that once Kuu combines with the other Angels, another explosive event will occur killing everything in sight.

At least now we know what’s going to happen. It’s a matter of whether or not the good guys will win out. I predict that Kyoshiro and Kuu are going to make a connection which acts as the deus ex machina and ends the series on a good note. I’m sure it’ll happen at the end of the next episode.

Kyoshiro Img 10-05 Kyoshiro Img 10-06 Kyoshiro Img 10-07 Kyoshiro Img 10-08

At the campus, Sojiro consults the help of Jin and his troops. Sojiro agrees to help as long as Sojiro returns to the squad as the squad captain. Back with Kyoshiro, he seems to have decided to go get back Kuu. On the path to the chapel, Himiko drags the weapon Mika gave her. She is saved from falling off the mountain by Sojiro who grabs her in time. While helping Kuu get dressed, Kazuya notices the white horse that Kyoshiro attached to her uniform. Kazuya detaches it and throws it away. Sojiro tells Himiko it’s too dangerous for her to go, but she’s determined to get back Kaon.

It’s just a lot of dialogue going around as all the different factions are in preparation. Kazuya is preparing for his reunion with his Cielo while Kyoshiro, Sojiro, and Himiko zone in for a final confrontation. Just get on with the fighting, I say.

Kyoshiro Img 10-09 Kyoshiro Img 10-10 Kyoshiro Img 10-11 Kyoshiro Img 10-12

The two open the gate doors. At that time, Jin and company provides him a weapon wrapped in cloth. Kazuya unleashes an army of incomplete Angels, known as Steel Angels, to keep them at bay. Battle ensues as Sojiro reveals his weapon as a large 2×4 and Himiko takes out the instrument. Everyone surrounds Himiko to protect the instrument. Kyoshiro shows up to help fight.

I was hoping Sojiro had a weapon of mass destruction, but it was just a big stick. Somehow, the previous sounded very political.. Anyway, the fighting scenes were pretty mundane here. Lots of still shots and not a lot of action. However, this anime is more of a love story than it is an action story, so whatever.

Kyoshiro Img 10-13 Kyoshiro Img 10-14 Kyoshiro Img 10-15 Kyoshiro Img 10-16

Back inside the chapel, Setsuna hands Kuu the white horse that Kazuya threw away. After a while, Jin’s forces dwindle down and Jin himself is injured. All that are left are Kyoshiro, Sojiro, and Himiko. Setsuna tries to make a break for it, but is unsuccessful. Kazuya incapacitates her and places her along with the other Angels into his assimilation machine/contraption. Kyoshiro and company enter the chapel, but it may be too late. Kyoshiro calls out to Kuu one last time. This time she turns around.

Setsuna should’ve made a break for it earlier on. Plus, she and the others should’ve rebelled and destroyed that machine that was going to encapsulate them. If they’re going to die anyway, might as well go down fighting. And we also see some signs from Kuu that she notices something in her feelings as she keeps looking back at the white horse. It’s probably going to be the key item that brings her back to her old self.

With the brief intro of this episode, Kuu is shown in the research facility’s test tube with Kazuya telling her to go with him. She reaches out to him and the facility explodes. Back in the present, Kazuya refers to Kuu as Cielo, which shocks Kuu. Setsuna tries to protect Kuu. She identifies the other Absolute Angel as Megingjord. Megingjord goes on a psychological attack on Setsuna by using Kyoshiro’s affection towards Kuu against her. Kazuya tries to bring Setsuna to his side, but she refuses. Setsuna attacks Kazuya, but he takes the hit as if it was nothing.

Finally the story is starting to move. Half of the previous episodes were pretty useless in my opinion. At least now we see Waruteishia in action and obviously Setsuna’s no match for her. Then with the egotistical Kazuya, who’s probably even stronger than Waruteishia, Setsuna’s attack against him is pretty futile.

Kyoshiro Img 09-05 Kyoshiro Img 09-06 Kyoshiro Img 09-07 Kyoshiro Img 09-08

Kazuya goes on to explain that Kuu filled him with her Absolute Angel mana. Megingjord uses here power on Kuu this time and exlains to her that the two of them make up the complete Megingjord. Kuu is the body while the other, calling herself Waruteishia was the spirit placed in a host body. Waruteishia talks Kuu into combining with her and becoming whole again. The combination manifests out the mech known as Megingjord. Setsuna summons out her mech, but is easily defeated.

Here we find out why Kuu’s personality is so weak. She’s an empty shell with pretty much no soul in her leading to her passive nature. I guess it also explains why she gave in so easily to Waruteishia to merge with her lost spirit. I don’t want to be mean, but what chance did Setsuna stand against the summoned Megingjord?

Kyoshiro Img 09-09 Kyoshiro Img 09-10 Kyoshiro Img 09-11 Kyoshiro Img 09-12

Kyoshiro gets up by then, but is hammered to the floor by Kazuya. Surprisingly, Kyoshiro lives even after the stone floor is broken by his head. Kazuya reveals to Kyoshiro that he never thought about saving the world. He goes on to explain that he never intended to save Kyoshiro at the lab. He just happened to be in the way and it just so happened he got shoved into an escape pod. After that, he knocks Kyoshiro into the wall and leaves with a memory-erased Kuu. Waruteishia leaves while carrying away Setsuna.

Alright, if I my head was slammed on to a stone ground hard enough to create an impact crater, I’m pretty sure I would be dead on impact. However, this is a fictional, fantasy story and therefore must be accepted as is. Anyway, I found Kazuya’s explanations for the events that happened at the research facility entertaining. The story from Kyoshiro is completely twisted. Kazuya created the havok that occurred and Kyoshiro just happened to be in the right place at the right time to survive the event.

Kyoshiro Img 09-13 Kyoshiro Img 09-14 Kyoshiro Img 09-15 Kyoshiro Img 09-16

The next day, Mika’s temple is under attack by Kazuya. While trying to persuade Kaon to go away with him, Mika attacks Kazuya with that guitar, though it’s not a guitar, just looks like one to me. Apparently it’s an instrument to seal an Absolute Angel’s mana. Mika describes that she has always seen through his mask revealing that Kazuya went as far as stealing her girl friends away from her. Kaon is summoned to attack Kazuya, but she is unsuccessful. Himiko tries to save Kaon, but Kaon won’t let her. Himiko won’t hear of it and gives Kaon all her energy anyway. Unfortunately, Kaon is still unsuccessful. Kazuya mortally wounds Mika and destroys her temple. Despite hating Himiko, Mika gives her the key to the instrument and tells her to save Kaon. Out in a garden, Kazuya is enjoying the company of his Angels.

Now that all but one of the Angels have been gathered, I can predict that the next target will be cat girl. And after that, the remaining characters will join forces to reclaim their Angels. Seeing as how Kazuya owned two of his siblings, it’s going to be quite the Deus Ex Machina that saves the day. Most likely Kyoshiro pulling out Kuu’s letter to him and some kind of act of love to get Kuu’s memories back and then Kuu, in a fit of rage and passion, will power up and save the day. Maybe.

Kyoshiro shoves a naked Kuu away from him onto her bed and tells her to get out. Setsuna watches Kuu leave the house as Kuu takes a walk in the festivities taking place around the academy. Kyoshiro takes a dip in a pond still trying to figure out what he should do with Kuu. When he returns home, he finds out that Kuu is gone and is mad at Setsuna for letting Kuu leave. Kuu ends up at an old stone castle overlooking the city.

Well I was wrong about Kuu getting covered up by Kyoshiro from my prediction about the end of the previous episode. I guess it would be more dramatic to be thrown aside then to have a shirt/blanket thrown over. Then we have another scene of Kyoshiro treating Setsuna like shit again.

Kyoshiro Img 08-05 Kyoshiro Img 08-06 Kyoshiro Img 08-07 Kyoshiro Img 08-08

She is mesmerized by the colors as she walks towards them and steps over the edge. Kyoshiro grabs Kuu before she falls to her death. Kuu comes to terms with the fact that she’s not human and is even willing to fuse with Setsuna for the sake of not being a burden. Kyoshiro tells Kuu that it’s fine if she doesn’t do anything. He doesn’t want to involve her in the battle. After all the internal debate Kyoshiro has gone through, he has decided not to destroy Kuu, but protect her intead and then pronounces his love for Kuu.

Despite Kuu being practically useless, she’s at least trying her best to make life better for everyone else around her. She’s either somewhat masochistic or self-pitying. It’s the thought that counts for her I guess. Also, I just find it hard to swallow that Kyoshiro has feelings towards Kuu to the point that he confesses his love for her. There’s just not enough character development to convince me, the viewer, that that’s true.

Kyoshiro Img 08-09 Kyoshiro Img 08-10 Kyoshiro Img 08-11 Kyoshiro Img 08-12

Over at Mika’s temple, Himiko enters Kaon’s room while Kaon is sleeping. Mika on the other hand is headed deep towards a well-locked room. Himiko explains that Mika plans to have Himiko give Kaon all of her Mana. Himiko doesn’t mind doing the task and only regrets finishing her painting of Kaon. As Himiko is about to leave, Kaon grabs her arm while still asleep. Himiko gives Kaon a kiss and Mika’s symbol on Kaon’s arm returns to the previous symbol. In the secured room, Mika stands before a guitar.

Well, at least these two characters remain true. They’re pretty much the reason why I’m watching this show. Unfortunately, they don’t get enough airtime. What a shame. As for that room protected by a bunch of security doors, it’s a guitar on display. That doesn’t make any sense at all. And was that item offered to Mika a golden guitar pick?? I guess I’ll find out next episode.

Kyoshiro Img 08-13 Kyoshiro Img 08-14 Kyoshiro Img 08-15 Kyoshiro Img 08-16

Kyoshiro notices a letter in Kuu’s pocket. He knows what the letter is and tells Kuu that he’ll take the letter in its tattered form, but cannot accept it just yet until he breaks off his ties with Setsuna. He admits he has mistreated Setsuna and must settle things with her first. He pinky swears with Kuu that he’ll return to accept the letter. On their way out, Setsuna stands in their way. Setsuna powers up, but is distracted when a large glow radiates from the castle on the hill. Feathers start raining down and then we see Kyoshiro’s brother Kazuya descending from the sky along with the girl with the angel wings. Both Kyoshiro and Kuu have different recognitions for Kazuya. Kyoshiro runs towards Kazuya, but is knocked away into a wall. Then Kazuya tells Kuu to come with him.

I knew this Kazuya guy was going to make an appearance somewhere down the line. And from the look of his egotistic descent towards Kyoshiro and Kuu, it was pretty obvious he wasn’t exactly a good guy. I’m not saying he’s a bad guy either (it’s too early to say that), but he sure has elements that make up a bad guy. It was also pretty obvious that Kyoshiro was going to get striked away by Kazuya. I’ve seen enough anime shows to warrant that.

Kuu and Setsuna are shopping for food when Kuu sees a sale on letter sets. She remembers Kozue’s statement about giving letters back on the bus in the first episode. Over at the campus, Jin praises Kyoshiro for having two Absolute Angels. Jin rambles on about Kuu not having any battle abilities, but tells Kyoshiro that the campus has the necessary resources to do what Mika attempted to do. All this time, Kyoshiro looks frustrated at the situation. Jin looks at the book he picked out and briefly describes the story as a prince who realized his wishes and therefore had no more need for a “sword”.

This is an obvious reference to the situation imposed on Kyoshiro right now. He was adamant about destroying all the Absolute Angels, but now with the ability to do so, he is showing cold feet in having to destroy his own Absolute Angels. In particular, Kuu (which doesn’t make much sense since he never really showed his affection towards her so far).

Kyoshiro Img 07-05 Kyoshiro Img 07-06 Kyoshiro Img 07-07 Kyoshiro Img 07-08

Back in her room, Kuu doesn’t know what to write to Kyoshiro. She settles instead for designing the letter and using plenty of white. She’s relatively happy with what she’s doing until she has an image of Kyoshiro stabbing her with his sword. Setsuna comes in and gives Kuu a hug. She tells Kuu that Kyoshiro told her to give her a hug. Kuu breaks out in tears. While Kuu is in the shower, Setsuna is cleaning Kuu’s room and sees the card that Kuu made. Setsuna summons out her mech arm and is about to destroy the letter (along with the table), but decides not to do so.

This was a particularly useless scene overall. The only purpose it served was to establish Setsuna’s somewhat jealous thoughts as she had a momentary sign of it when she wanted to destroy the letter.

Kyoshiro Img 07-09 Kyoshiro Img 07-10 Kyoshiro Img 07-11 Kyoshiro Img 07-12

Kuu calls Kozue for some help, but hangs up when Kozue answers the phone. Elsewhere, Kyoshiro is trying to rationalize with himself what he has to do. But the thought of Kuu makes him snap a string on his violin. Over at Sojiro’s place, he finds out that Kuu’s makes the Absolute Angel count to five, but doesn’t know how to proceed. At Mika’s place, Mika is trying to increase Kaon’s power and thinks back to the past where she’s injured and the nurse there taking care of her had a very strong resemblance to Kaon.

Here we see that Kyoshiro’s plans are not going well. He’s starting to lose his determination and is frustrated by his emotions towards Kuu. Mika on the other hand is making sure that her Angel is the strongest of them all. Her flashback explains why she has two different eye colors and also why she’s so obsessed over Kaon.

Kyoshiro Img 07-13 Kyoshiro Img 07-14 Kyoshiro Img 07-15 Kyoshiro Img 07-16

That night, Kuu asks Setsuna how to summon the Absolute Angel powers. Setsuna explains that each Angel relies on a desire to do something and uses a reference item to increase that concentration. Setsuna explains she uses her bells while Kaon uses her earrings and Tarurotte uses her feet. Kuu tries to find what her desire is and tries to summon her powers, but fails. Elsewhere, we see the girl whose only appearance was in the first episode up in a tower. A large feather falls to her and she realizes “it” has begun. Kyoshiro returns home and crashes on his bed. Kuu enters his room and takes off all her clothes in front of him. The episode ends with him calling her an idiot and we hear the sound of fabric as if to describe Kyoshiro grabbing a jacket or blanket to cover up Kuu.

The show has raised its shock factor with this ending scene. I think it was to make up for the lack of a Kuu and Setsuna bath scene in this episode. Anyway, it’s pretty apparent that Kyoshiro covers her up with something at the end of the episode. I guess she wanted to find a way to activate her powers and this would be a pretty effective way as she’s going the “Fate/Stay Night” route (if you know what I mean).

Continuing off from the previous episode, Kuu is still in shock to find out that she is an Absolute Angel. Meanwhile, Setsuna continues to bait Tarurotte to Mika’s temple. Mika cuts open Kuu’s uniform to reveal the Absolute Angel symbol on Kuu’s chest. Kuu has a hard time coping with the sudden knowledge and is awoken by Kozue and Kuu finds herself at school. There are no signs of what Kuu has experienced since Tarurotte attacked the school.

Well before I go into what happens next, I’d like to put in that I’d be very disappointed if things rewound itself like that, because it would mean that I’ve just lost five episodes of my life. However, since the series is at the halfway mark, any strange happenings like this is obviously fake.

Venus Versus Virus Image 0605 Venus Versus Virus Image 0606 Venus Versus Virus Image 0607 Venus Versus Virus Image 0608

Apparently, Kuu, timewise, is back to the point in the first episode where she is in class after failing to hand the invitation letter to the boy on the bus. Kuu breaks down in tears. At lunch, Kuu explains that she’s had a strange dream and starts talking about being happy about having a normal life and being a normal person. Kozue counters Kuu’s belief of being average by pointing out that she is an Absolute Angel. Kyoshiro appears and stabs Kuu with his sword.

I was just to see when reality was going to set in on Kuu. It was longer than expected, but inevitable. Also, this scene would half-explain why in the opening credits Kyoshiro has a sword in Kuu’s chest. I say it’s a half explanation because Kyoshiro intends to destroy all of the Angels so it might be foreshadowing what’s going to happen.

Venus Versus Virus Image 0609 Venus Versus Virus Image 0610 Venus Versus Virus Image 0611 Venus Versus Virus Image 0612

In reality, Kuu is in a trance state trying to make sense of everything while Mika plans to fuse Kaon with Kuu to create an extremely powerful Absolute Angel. Mika retires to her room and shows signs of illness. She starts asking questions, directed to some unknown person. Apparently, however, Mika is venting her frustrations at why Kaon is infatuated with Himiko instead of being infatuated with her instead. Mika vows to make Kaon love her. Later on, as they prepare to fuse the two together, Setsuna comes crashing down, but Setsuna is still no match for Kaon by herself. With the involvement of Tarurotte, the 3 way battle begins.

I have no idea who Mika is talking to while she is in her room. I have a feeling it’s directed to someone who told Mika that Himiko is important and Kaon only operates well with Himiko and no one else. It’s all speculation, but it does look that way.

As the fighting intensifies, Kyoshiro appears and grabs the distraught Kuu. Mika strikes up an argument with Kyoshiro with a gun pointed at him. She fires a shot, but Kyoshiro blocks the bullet with the hilt of his sword. As the building starts to collapse, Kyoshiro and Setsuna make for an escape as Kaon prevents the building from falling on Himiko. Mika at first thought Kaon was protecting her, but realized quickly it was Himiko Kaon was protecting. Kuu asks Kyoshiro and Setsuna if the two knew from the start if she was an Absolute Angel. They wanted to take her to Joto Academy for more studies. Kuu is obviously unhappy with what’s going and breaks down to tears as she is saddened by the fact that she’s not human.

I like how the biggest fight so far in this series was practically not even part of the animation. Sure a few kicks and punches, but overall the scene was saturated with just a bunch of dialogue such as the confrontation between Kyoshiro and Mika. Bleh. The end of the episode finished on a low end, but at least the series is finally starting to pick up the pace.

Not wanting to be outdone by Setsuna, Kuu attempts to bake a cake on her own. While Setsuna asks Kyoshiro if it is necessary to move Kuu to the Joto Academy. They are interrupted by Kuu who makes a commotion downstairs. Setsuna and Kuu end up in the bathroom again as Kuu is dirty from the attempted cooking. Inside, Kuu talks about wanting to impress Kyoshiro with her cooking. However, in the process of their talk, Setsuna is called away by Kyoshiro, or so she says anyway. After the bath, Setsuna talks Kyoshiro into going with her to go shopping for food.

I think I’m starting to be right about the whole bathing thing. The show just likes to make situations that result in Setsuna and Kuu in the bathroom together. Not that I mind, though.

Over at Mika’s temple, Kaon is powered up and ready to re-abduct Kuu after receving energy from getting a kiss from Mika, with a jealous Himiko looks helplessly on. All the other servants are ecstatic at the sight. On Kaon’s way out, she gives Himiko the cold shoulder and leaves without saying a word to her. At the market, Kuu and company finish their food shopping, but Kuu’s attention is pulled towards a jewelry stand. She wants to pick something up for Kyoshiro and spots a white horse. Kyoshiro notices the white horse at the same time and picks it up before Kuu does and attaches it onto Kuu’s uniform. This leaves a horribly jealous and heartbroken look on Setsuna’s face.

This time they’re really making it obvious the feelings Setsuna has on Kyoshiro. Before it would just show a blank stare from Setsuna whenever the potential for being jealous is available. This time it’s a zoomed in, black and white shot with only color in Setsuna’s eyes. If it’s not jealousy or heartbreak, I’d like to hear it.

Afterward, in front of a lake, Kaon appears in front of the three characters and makes quick work of Setsuna. While Kyoshiro has no choice but to help regenerate Setsuna’s mana, Kaon takes the opportunity to abduct Kuu and fly away. Kyoshiro devises a plan to rescue Kuu by having Setsuna lure Tarurotte (catgirl) over to Mika’s place to insight battle between Kaon and Tarurotte while Setsuna rescues Kuu.

In this scene where Setsuna is calling out for Kyoshiro, I don’t see why there’s a hesitation on Kyoshiro. It’s not as if he can stand off against Kaon by himself. Either way, it was going to end up with Kuu getting abducted anyway. Made no sense.

At Mika’s place, Mika introduces herself as Kyoshiro’s sister while also speaking negatively of her brother Kazuya. Kuu questions why Mika is using the Absolute Angel to cause destruction to the world. Mika realizes that Kuu has not realized it herself yet and that Kyoshiro has yet to tell her. Mika instructs Himiko to show Kuu what she’s talking about. Himiko reluctantly grabs Himiko and kisses her. Kuu lights up from a symbol on her chest and finally realizes that she herself is an Absolute Angel.

It was pretty much hinted that Kuu was an Absolute Angel, if not with hidden special powers. What took me by surprise was when Himiko kissed Kuu. They could’ve just told her, but I guess they were trying to be dramatic. That’s how anime are anyway. Actions speak louder than words.

Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora 4

Continuing off from the last episode, Kuu and Kyoshiro are falling down while catgirl (who I’ll call Tarurotte now for political correctness) continues on the attack. Right at that moment, Setsuna crashes through the wall to save the day. Well, sort of. She keeps Tarurotte at bay but Kuu and Kyoshiro fall to the ground. At the bottom of that fall is an abandoned academic building. Kuu drags a wounded and unconscious Kyroshiro inside and eventually finds an infirmary to place Kyoshiro.

I think the one important thing to note here is that despite the passive character that Kuu is presented in the previous three episodes, she’s actually of some use as she attempts to help Kyoshiro the best she can instead of doing nothing.

Despite being in the infirmary room, there are no medical supplies available. Kuu tears off some pieces from her uniform to serve as bandages for Kyoshiro’s wound. Kuu gathers some water from a small stream of water outside. As Kyoshiro regains consciousness, he and Kuu discuss his past involving his dead brother Kazuya, who died during an experimental accident ten years ago while researching on creating the Absolute Angels.

Here we have more thoughtfulness and usefulness from Kuu. And then we are given a chance to see what happened ten years ago that caused the seven days of hot snow as mentioned in the first episode. Plus we get confirmation that Kuu’s red-haired prince is indeed Kyoshiro’s older brother and he has a name.

Kyoshiro Img 04-09 Kyoshiro Img 04-10 Kyoshiro Img 04-11 Kyoshiro Img 04-12

At the research center was Kyoshiro’s grandfather along with his brother. Kyoshiro went to the research center to visit and while there, Kazuya tells him that no one should ever come in contact with the Absolute Angels. Shortly after was the research center’s accident and Kyoshiro is forced into an escape pod while he watches his brother stay behind to take care of the situation. Unfortunately, the research center was destroyed, but managed to contain the damage to avoid massive fatalities in the area.

For some reason, the image of the explosion with the angel wings stretching out into space looks a lot like Evangelion if you ask me. Heck, the whole Absolute Angel thing carries the tune of the theme of Evangelion. Back to this particular scene of events, we see how Kyoshiro’s vision of the world is influenced by what he is told by his brother and what he sees while at the research center.

Kuu goes out to get more water, but comes in contact with Tarurotte’s human controller. Kyoshiro confronts him and identifies as his other brother Sojiro. They talk about their differing views and goals, such as Kyoshiro’s goal to destroy all four Absolute Angels, including Setsuna. Tarurotte and Setsuna crash in from above still heavy in battle. Tarurotte quickly puts Setsuna on the defense. Setsuna cries out in pain, but Kyoshiro won’t let her quit. Kuu grabs Kyoshiro from behind pleaing him to stop. Suddenly, a bright light emits from Kuu covering the area. Kuu awakens to find that the confrontation is over. At Mika’s temple, Kaon is on the floor. Mika destroys a previous marking on Kaon’s arm and replaces it with her own. As Kaon gets up, the only person she’s paying attention to is Himiko.

If Kyoshiro plans to destroy all the Absolute Angels, I wonder how he’s going to destroy Setsuna. If I were her, I’d probably turn against him if he said something to the degree of “Hey, hold still so I can destroy you.” Anyway, they need to start explaining the mysterious powers that Kuu carries so she can have some weight in this show because so far she’s more of a liability than anything else. As for Kaon and Himiko, it’s hard to tell whether Kaon is giving Himiko a friendly look or an evil look. The preview’s leaning towards the evil look.

Overall, for a show that only has 12 episodes, the series is taking a while to pick up the pace. The next episode doesn’t look all too promising either. So I’m guessing things will pick up somewhere between episodes 6 and 8.

Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora 3

The three masters of the Absolute Angels, Kyoshiro, Mika, and that dude with the X scar on his face (also from Kannazuki, if I remember correctly), start giving some back story as to what happened ten years ago. They explain that there were four Absolute Angels that were created at that time and the three of them each had one, which leaves one more. And then there’s Kuu who doesn’t quite fit into the equation at all.

Well, it was a nice idea to have all the controllers of the Absolute Angels to be discussing the same thing and all, but do they all have to be thinking about while bathing? Pretty awkward moment to start off the episode. I didn’t want to see some dude’s butt cheeks, but a least I got some back story for the show.

At Kyoshiro’s residence, Setsuna is preparing a meal. Kuu joins in to help, but ends up overcooking some eggs in comparison to the masterpiece dishes that Setsuna made. After the table is set, Kuu volunteers to brew some coffee to avoid the awkwardness by the lovey-dovey mood that Setsuna and Kyoshiro create when together. She accidentally trips and lands face first into a vanilla cake. Setsuna appears jealous as Kyoshiro helps wipe the cake off Kuu’s face.

I found myself cracking up at the sight of those eggs that Kuu fried up along with the look that Setsuna gave at the sight of those eggs. How Kuu planted her face into the cake is beyond me. It must’ve been one hell of a miss step on her behalf. Then there’s the jealousy in Setsuna’s eyes. I guess she’s not used to sharing Kyoshiro with others.

The two girls end up bathing again as Setsuna helps Kuu wash off the cake from her hair. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Kuu asks Setsuna more about her relationship with Kyoshiro. Setsuna shoots down her intrigues of whether or not there’s any romantic relation between the two of them. Suddenly, Setsuna approaches Kuu and gives her a quick kiss. Kuu is completely shocked and surprised.

It feels like the show is finding every excuse to stick Kuu and Setsuna into the bathroom. I don’t mind, though. And I must say, I kind of saw it coming eventually, but I didn’t think it would happen so suddenly. Obviously, I’m talking about that quick kiss. Could it be ignorance on behalf of Setsuna since she’s not human? Impossible. She was blushing quite a bit afterward. Again, I don’t mind. Moving on..

Elsewhere, we have a rejuvenated catgirl feeding on the energy of some students at a campus pool. Her human counterpart, the guy with the scar, pulls the students out of the water so they don’t drown. At Mika’s temple, Kaon is strapped down by mechanical restraints and getting hit by a large piston with Mika watching the whole time.

For being part of the bad guys, the scar headed guy, Sojiro, sure seems to be nice enough to pull the victims out of the water. And Mika is like the absolute villain, seeing how she is applying torture-like techniques to raise the endurance of Kaon. Pretty brutal, but also very smart since there’s going to be a showdown towards the end of this series.

Kyoshiro Img 03-17 Kyoshiro Img 03-18 Kyoshiro Img 03-19 Kyoshiro Img 03-20

Back at the residence, Kyoshiro wants to move Kuu to the academy for safety. He strikes up a plan with Jin as to how to get her there without attracting danger from the area. The plan would be him and Kuu taking an abandoned railway while Setsuna takes the main route and Jin’s forces acting as backup.

From what I can see so far, Kyoshiro’s one of those guys who wants to emulate his brother, who is somewhat hinted to be the red haired guy talking to Kuu at the beginning of the first episode. Anyway, his no fun attitude makes him such a horrible character.

Kyoshiro Img 03-21 Kyoshiro Img 03-22 Kyoshiro Img 03-23 Kyoshiro Img 03-24

They give Kuu a uniform that matches the academy. Before they set out, Setsuna gives Kyoshiro a bento since he hasn’t eaten yet. Kyoshiro gives her a long stare, making her look sad that she has wasted her efforts in preparing the bento, but in the ends takes the item and also gives her a kiss (to replenish her energy). However, by the looks of Setsuna, it looked like it wasn’t necessary.

As I was watching this scene, I thought Kyoshiro was such an ass, but he redeemed himself, kind of. He didn’t look like he really cared much for the packaged food, but having upset Setsuna, he gives her a kiss to make her feel better. It had nothing to do with replenishing her energy. Well, that’s my interpretation anyway. As for the rest of the episode..

Kyoshiro and Kuu go by horse, and Kuu fantasizes about her and Kyoshiro being together at the academy. Her daydreaming is ended abruptly as catgirl appears identifying the smell of vanilla from Kuu. Setsuna senses the trouble and immediately heads off to help Kyoshiro. Catgirl sends a train car flying at the two. While avoiding it, Kuu slips off the horse, but Kyoshiro catches her, but the weight of them and the horse causes the ground to break from under them and they start falling.

Taking into consideration that this series is only 12 episodes in length, every episode more or less at this point is probably going to end in cliffhangers where it’s one troublesome scenario after another. As for Kuu, she sure falls for Kyoshiro pretty quick. Short series right? Sorry, I have to keep that in mind for all of this to make sense.
