Sola Episode 7 Review:

To start right off the bat.. my first reaction after watching this episode was a similar reaction after watching episode 8 of Claymore, which is, whoa! To be more detailed, I was surprised that Yorito stabbed Matsuri. As they say, we hurt the ones we love, although he did appear that he was being controlled by his now very evil-intentioned sister Aono. Didn’t I say I didn’t like her very much since the first episode? Now she’s even worse.

Most of the episode was pretty boring as most of it was spent reflecting on the aftermath of Matsuri’s departure from Yorito. Just to be more descriptive of what happened in the episode, in short, Aono tries to force herself back into Yorito’s life while at the same time trying to remove Matsuri from his thoughts. She makes him take her outdoors and to various places. Yorito, however doesn’t want to stop looking for her. He ventures out to all the areas where he thinks he might find her, but is unsuccessful.

We also find out early in the episode that Takeshi’s Yaka, Mayuko, has disappeared and he can’t find her. It’s not really revealed why she’s missing, but Takeshi believes that she ran away from him because he wouldn’t tell her about his injury. We do find out that she is being taken care of by Matsuri in some run down apartment shack.

The episode finally picks up when Yorito catches Matsuri at the convenience store and starts to chase her down. And then he stabs her right at the end of the episode. This show sure knows how to keep things interesting. Of course the character can’t be killed off so soon, but my interest getting peaked right at the end of the episode is killer. At least things have really picked up for the show. It’s starting to look like a 12 or 13 episode series now, however.
